Šeško to join RB Leipzig in 2023 - Bundesliga club beat Man United & Co. to signing of striker

RB Leipzig have confirmed the signing of Benjamin Šeško from Red Bull Salzburg. In an announcement on Tuesday morning, the Bundesliga giants revealed plans to sign the young forward on a five-year deal in the summer of 2023. Sky Germany has reported a transfer fee of €24 million for the striker. That fee has been described as accurate by a source. 

 

Once the move is completed, Šeško will become the 19th player to move from Salzburg to Leipzig. The 19-year-old striker will be the third most expensive of all those transfers ranking just behind Naby Keïta and Dominik Szoboszlai (overview). 

Šeško joined Salzburg from NK Domzale's academy for just €2.5 million and initially played for the club's farm-team FC Liefering. The striker had his breakthrough in the first team last season scoring 11 goals and seven assists in 37 games across all competitions. 

No Man United transfer for next Haaland - Šeško choses RB Leipzig 

Šeško is a tall and direct striker with incredible pace and, as a result, has been compared with former Salzburg striker Erling Haaland. The Slovenian's profile has meant that several clubs around Europe have been interested in the striker and Šeško was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. A potential transfer to Manchester United has been discussed by the TM community (to the forum).
