Aiban Dohling injured - Who will replace the defender?

Kerala Blasters defender Aiban Dohling was a concerning injury casualty in the first half of their away fixture against Mumbai City. Aiban immediately appeared to be in severe discomfort as he sprained his ankle. Later, the full-back revealed on social media that he would miss the entire season.

“Absolutely devastated to have picked up this injury at such a crucial time in the season. Gutted, I won’t be able to play any further part in the Indian Super League for my team, the Kerala Blasters. But now it’s all about supporting the boys and getting behind them. I’m going to give everything I have to make sure I come back stronger than before,” Aiban posted on Instagram.

Being the top summer arrival in the Indian Super League, it is a serious setback for the club. Blasters had splashed a whopping ₹1.4 crore for the transfer of the 27-year-old from FC Goa. With his defensive efforts in the wins at Kochi against Bengaluru and Jamshedpur, Aiban relished a respectable start to the season.

Who will replace him?

In Aiban’s absence, Sandeep Singh will likely be drafted into the starting XI. Compared to the right back position, the left back position offers fewer choices for Blasters. Naocha Singh, who was loaned out from Mumbai City, is another option available for the spot.
