From transfer to loan back to transfer - Botman to join Lille on permanent deal
On Jul. 31, Sven Botman joined LOSC Lille from Ajax; in Ligue 1 he has played the last four games over the full distance. Off the pitch, Botman has been involved in one of the more curious transfers of the summer window.
While both clubs initially announced a permanent transfer, Ajax changed their tune on Aug. 20, announcing that it was a loan with an obligation to buy. Today the club changed the statement again, the defender will join Lille in a permanent deal this summer after all.
"All obligations for a complete transfer are now fulfilled, the transfer is now complete," Ajax said on their homepage. According to sources, Lille will pay €8 million for the player, who never played for Ajax's first team.
