Trabzonspor want "to rebuild" Sørloth - Striker sees "future in Leipzig"

At the Turkish Süper Lig club, Trabzonspor Alexander Sørloth had his best time of his career. In 2019/20, he won the golden boot by scoring 24 goals, and his club finished second in the league. Enough for RB Leipzig to go after the striker last season and sign him for €20 million from Crystal Palace, from where he was loaned to Turkey. But the 30-times national team striker has struggled in Saxony and has scored just six goals in 36 games. Trabzonspor boss Ahmet Agaoglu has now suggested that Trabzonspor could be ready to help Sørloth regain his form.

"Alex also struggled at Crystal Palace; we then rebuild him," Agaoglu said (cited via Bild). The Trabzonspor added further quotes in a big interview with Gazete Futbol. "If he continues like this, his market value is going to collapse. Send him back to us; that way, he can replicate his best days. When he arrived from Palace, we told him that we would increase his market value. Why wouldn't it work now that he is at Leipzig?" Agaoglu also believes that the Bundesliga side has treated a Ferrari like a normal car. 

According to Bild, Trabzonspor could only afford to loan the Trondheim-native, who is currently under contract until 2025 at RB Leipzig. Leipzig are yet to receive an official offer from the Turkish club. That offer would be turned away anyhow. Sources have told Transfermarkt that Sørloth has no interest in returning to the Black Sea club. The striker wants to make the most of the coaching change from Julian Nagelsmann to Jesse Marsch and wants to stay in Leipzig long-term.

Sørloth back to Turkey? - Agent denies rumor 

"I think we are talking too much about the past," Ibrahim Polat from the PRO Profil GmbH agency, which cooperates with Sørloth's agency Keypass AS, said when contacted by Transfermarkt. "He will be ready for the new season. You can count on that. We are looking ahead and are seeing a positive future at Leipzig."
