Premiership: Dundee Utd's Mixu Paatelainen wins manager award

Mixu Paatelainen insists that he is only a "small part" in the turnaround in Dundee United's form that has led to him being named manager of the month.

United midfielder Paul Paton was also named top player in the Scottish Premiership during February.

"I'm just a small part of it," said Paatelainen. "Ultimately, it is the players who do the work on the pitch and are the most important people.

"We had a relatively good month. Everybody put the effort in."

Morton's Declan McManus wins Championship player award

Morton's Declan McManus has won the Ladbrokes Championship player of the month award for February.

The on-loan Fleetwood Town striker picked up the accolade after a string of impressive performances for the Ton.

"I'm delighted. To be picked ahead of Hibs or Rangers players who have played so well is a big thing," he said.

The 21-year old has been used in a more advanced midfield role this season to accommodate team-mate Denny Johnstone up front for the Greenock club.

Rangers pair & Hibs duo vie for Scottish Championship award

Rangers pair Lee Wallace and Martyn Waghorn will vie with Hibernian duo Jason Cummings and John McGinn for the Championship player of the year award.

Dunfermline Athletic's Faissal el Bakhtaoui and Joe Cardle, Peterhead's Rory McAllister and Cowdenbeath's Greig Spence are the League One nominees.

East Fife duo Nathan Austin and Kyle Wilkie, plus Arbroath's Bobby Linn and Annan Athletic's Peter Weatherson, are up for the League Two prize.

The winners will be announced on 1 May.

Tony Watt: St Johnstone striker eyes Scotland recall after winning monthly award

St Johnstone striker Tony Watt is targeting a Scotland recall after winning the Scottish Premiership player of the month award for August.

The former Celtic, Hearts and Charlton forward, 24, has scored six goals in nine games since joining Saints in July, including four last month.

His sole Scotland cap to date came under Gordon Strachan as a substitute against Czech Republic in March 2016.

"I want to get back in the squad," he told St Johnstone's website.

Livingston's Gary Holt named Scottish Premiership manager of month

Livingston's unbeaten September has led to Gary Holt being named manager of the month in the Scottish Premiership.

The West Lothian side, who were promoted last season under David Hopkin, won three and drew one of their games during the month.

Livi defeated Rangers, Hibernian and Hamilton and drew with leaders Hearts to sit third in the Premiership table.

Hibernian head coach Paul Heckingbottom has won the Scottish Premiership manager of the month award for March.

Hibs won two and drew the other of their league matches last month.
